Winner of Best Canadian Feature Film at TIFF 2021, Rhayne Vermette's debut feature follows Renée, portrayed by Vermette, as she comes back to her Manitoba village following a four-year absence. During this time, she entrusted the care of her daughter, Athene (Isabelle d'Eschambault), to her brother, Modeste (Jack Theis) and his wife Elenore (Valerie Marion). Ste. Anne's unconventional, experimental narrative structure, it's dreamlike imagery and it's innovative use of sound combine to create a fascinating, and uniquely compelling, film.
