Helvécio Marins Jr.'s film centres on Marcelo (Marcelo di Souza), an easygoing cowboy at a Brazilian cattle farm who lives for one passion: rodeos. After a tragic incident affects him deeply, he slowly learns to overcomes his trauma and live his life again. di Souza is excellent in the lead role, delivering a quiet, restrained and nuanced performance which both impacts and reflects the overall tone of the film, which is one of authenticity and naturalism. The incorporation of non-fiction elements, such as real-life farmers as cast members and documentary footage, also heightens this sense of realism, making the story at the heart of this film all the more affecting.
