About Matt's Picks
Matt's Picks • 58s
I grew up theatre-hopping a multiplex and mucking out stalls in a barn, so it should come as no surprise that my film taste skews toward genres like crime and westerns. I love films that exist in the genre space, and use the lens of genre to let the audience into worlds that are a bit different than our own. When it’s done just right, that kind of story-telling can approach a relatable, personal story from a unique vantage point that catches our biases off-guard, and sneaks through the recesses of our minds to find our hearts defenseless. Those are the films that stay with me, and I hope they’ll stay with you, too.
