Salomé Jashi's remarkable documentary follows trees that are transported, at great expense and inconvenience, from the coast of the Republic of Georgia to the private garden of that country's former prime minister, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili. Forced, due to prices too good to refuse, to succumb to the whims of the former PM, rural communities see their environment decimated as long-established trees, which hold great meaning for many of the locals, are uprooted and sent on a long journey to Ivanishvili's home. It's a surreal, haunting sight to behold, and Jashi depicts it beautifully. It's a truly astonishing documentary examining the intersection of power, wealth, greed and environmental destruction.
