Rotterdam International Film Festival

After enduring a three day Chinese funeral for an elderly man who was a father, husband, and grandfather, the family returns home, but soon after his wife suddenly sees him again. He has reappeared in their family home, as if he never left. He interacts first with his widow, and then with his daughter and grandson, and has everyone assuming old roles and routines. The situation grows even more absurd when he explains other deceased guests are on their way to visit as well.

Shot in long lingering takes that highlight the beauty in the small details, while also encompassing the oddity of the situation and the lingering feelings of sadness, the film immerses the viewer into its unique world.
