What Walaa Wants follows Walaa from age 15 through 21 raised by her environment in a refugee camp. Separated from her mother due to an eight year prison sentence, Walaa is a determined young woman recognizing the powers at be around her. She is rebellious, boisterous, and confident and unlike many of her peers, dreams of serving in the Palestinian Security Forces to protect her people. This observational documentary offers an intimate glance into her life, her time training to become an officer, and her relationship with her family. She is bright and unbothered by the world around her, a true testament of a young woman on a mission to be who she wants to be.
