“Kuessipan is quiet and mesmerizing and tragic and full of hope. It is a triumph, and a privilege to spend time with.” - The Globe and Mail

Adapted from Naomi Fontaine’s novel, Director Myriam Verreault conveys the complicated relationship between childhood friends Mikuan and Shaniss who grew up together in a Quebec Innu community. They struggle to maintain common ground as their ambitions and goals for the future evolve. Verreault tugs at the audiences’ heartstrings as the two struggle when the focus turns to the things pulling them apart versus the those that have the power to keep them together.
