Alisa Kovalenko’s documentary focusses on a crucial period in the life of Alina, a gifted 20-year-old footballer from Kyiv, whose passion for the sport has a chance of saving her from poverty. While talented, Alina struggles with the demands of her day-to-day existence, which see her taking on the role of parent to her siblings, ensuring there is food on the table, clothes on their backs and that they attend school. Her own parents, while semi-present, have checked out and are unable to provide the support, both emotional and financial, their children require. Alina, however, continues to pursue her dream of playing for the Ukrainian team despite the many challenges placed in her path.
