Nadia Murad is a survivor. After losing her family to the Yazidi genocide and forced into sexual slavery by ISIS, she takes on the exhausting task of sharing the story of her people to the international community. As her words impact more people, Nadia is thrust into the spotlight moving between intrusive media interviews, bureaucratic United Nation conferences, and difficult meetings with government officials. Determined to make an impact on the war that still plagues her hometown, On Her Shoulders documents the raw moments of this young woman as she grapples with her responsibility to advocate for justice in a world more interested in a soundbite over solidarity.
