Katherine Jerkovic's poignant, intimate debut feature follows Sarah (Arlen Aguayo-Stewart) who, after the death of her father, travels from Montreal to a small village in Uruguay to visit with her paternal grandmother, Magda (Gloria Demassi), who she hasn't spoken to since she immigrated to Canada. Examining themes of themes of family, cultural identity, and self-discovery, Roads in February features mesmerising, nuanced performances from both leads, beautiful cinematography, and illustrates Jerkovic's restrained, yet impactful, skill as a storyteller.
