Director Jahmil X.T. Qubeka's stylish and compelling thriller follows an introverted high school teacher, Parker Sitole (Mothusi Magano), in rural South Africa as he embarks on an obsessive affair with a pupil. Mothusi Magano is remarkable in the lead role, delivering a powerful, and almost dialogue free, performance as the troubled teacher. The air of mystery surrounding this enigmatic character is heightened by the director's non-linear approach to the film's narrative structure - Qubeka builds tension throughout, drip-feeding the audience information which gives us greater insight into Parker's past, and his motivations.
